Antique 19th Century German American Panormo Parlour Romantic Acoustic Guitar
Antique 19th Century German American Panormo Parlour Romantic Acoustic Guitar
This is the nicest antique guitar I’ve ever handled, and it’s just returned from an incredible luthier who reset the neck and sturdied the cracks to the birdseye back, making it an incredibly good playing guitar. A truly beautiful late 19th century Panormo style guitar, made in Germany or America (circa 1890 at a guess). The build quality is superior to anything I’ve seen of the age, especially with those inlays and the figured back. Speaking to a specialist on these types of guitars, he noted that it had both English features (body shape) and German features (inlays, bridge and internals), but also a possibility that it could have been made in the USA by a German immigrant – a very interesting guitar indeed.
It plays like a dream, with a lovely neck profile making it easy to play. The moustache style bridge and the inlays are a real feature. There are two slight hairlines to the back (pictured) but these are structurally sound. The guitar comes with some pretty cool history / strings / strap too. It’s a truly wonderful guitar that you will not be disappointed with and it’s clearly been well looked after. Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of our description.
